Description

Probably rebuilt in later 19th century, incorporating the walls of a much earlier cottage. Traditional. 1 storey with byre at E end. Harled; gabled slate roof. Additions at rear and W end.

Statement of Interest

Domestic. According to tradition. Alastair Macdonald Mar Colkitto, Montrose's lieutenant, spared this cottage in 1644 when he was ravaging Argyll, because the occupant gave him a drink of milt to quench his thirst. In 1845 it was still in perfect preservation, with oak couples and thatched roof; but it has been re-roofed and much altered since then.
