Description

Mid 19th century. 2 storeys (1st floor raised into roof),
2 bays. Roughly coursed rubble. Door at right and 1 window
to ground 1 central 1st floor window with raised wallhead
gable. Slate roof.

Statement of Interest

Balfour Village makes a B Group.

Col. Balfour advocated the improvement of the island

of Shapinsay in the mid 19th century. All houses, cottages

and steadings were erected to plans approved by Col.

Balfour.
