c. 1750. Traditional. 2 1/2 storeys. Harled. Corbie-stepped.
Slated roof. Lean-to additions at ends and 1-storey offices.

Statement of Interest

From 17th cent. Westness belonged to branch of Trails who

inherited Woodwick (Evie) and North Ronaldsay in 1733.

Present house built to replace one burned down by Captain

Moodie of Melsetter (Hay) 1746.

Westness and other estates in Rousay were purchased by

George W. Traill of Wyre (c. 1847) in earlier 19th cent.
