Statement of Interest

The Bow Farmhouse retains its internal lay out and its linear arrangement with adjacent farm buildings. This is the site of the former Bu of Flotta and is of historic interest. Flotta belonged to the Stewarts of Burray from the later 16th century to 1746 and The Bu was their seat on this island. A W range (now partially gone) is visible on the 1st Edition OS map. The attached 2-storey rendered farmhouse is excluded from listing.
