Description

J and W Wittet, circa 1935. 2-storey, 9-bay mess building, symmetrical design with baronial detailing. Pinned squared granite rubble with finely tooled ashlar dressings and long and short quoins, in lighter colour, rock-faced plinth. Multi-pane sash and case windows, slate roof. Centre 3 bays taller and advanced, centre bay under with bold canted window at ground, crenellated parapet. Very grand Royal coated arms tripartite above with pediment detail to centre light. Corbelled angle bartizans. Outer wings lower with porches setinto re-entrant angles. All gables crowstepped. 2 rear wings, one circa 1960 and infilled court.
