Description

Rebuilt 1817-20. Rectangular double kiln (circa 45'x60') battered and abutting hillside; squared rubble. 2, 4-draw kilns, each with

3 independent vent arches, and 1 common arch, all stone vaulted;

3 arches to front, 2 to each side.

Statement of Interest

Former quarry nearby. Ramp to upper area of kilns. Common design for lime kilns in East Lothian; similar structures to be found at Catcraig, Skateraw and Phantassie, for example.
