Description

Earlier 19th century. Single storey 'Regency' cottage. Squared and coursed ashlar to N; red brick in Flemish bond with ashlar dressings and base course to remaining elevations. Narrow windows.

N ELEVATION: advanced bay at centre with 2 windows; doorway on return to right.

S ELEVATION: 3-bay; round arched doorway at centre with fanlight; window in flanking bay to right; advanced bowed bay flanking door to left; loggia with slender cast-iron and timber columns linking bays to centre and right with bowed bay to left, under eaves of main roof.

E AND W ELEVATIONS: each 2-bay with window; bowed bay to left of E elevation with wide window. Lying-pane glazing pattern in sash and case windows; grey slates; brick stacks.

Statement of Interest

Walled garden close by to S, listed separately. Modern house to W. Saltoun Hall to SE. Garden Cottage has rather the appearance of a gate lodge.
