Description

Dated 1881. Single L-plan gate lodge with later extension to W. Stugged, squared and snecked creamy pink sandstone with ashlar dressings; chamfered reveals; base course. Original S elevation of 3 bays; doorway by re-entrant angle at centre under gabled porch; panelled 2-leaf doors and 2-pane fanlight. Bipartite window to outer right; advanced gabled bay to left with 4-light canted, piend-roofed window and dated panel. Later extension harled and recessed to outer left. Canted window (detailed as above) on E elevation. Plate glass glazing pattern in sash and case windows. Decorative timber barge boarding and kingposts; eaves brackets; purple slates. Pheasant weathervane to porch. Decorative gutter fixtures and original gutterhead by porch. Gatepiers: 2 square ashlar piers with cavetto corniched caps and pawn finials.
