Description

Early to earlier 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay cottage. Pebble dashed. Protruding cills.

E (MAIN STREET) ELEVATION: door at centre. Windows in outer bays.

N ELEVATION: gabled and blank. Rubble shed adjoined to outer right.

S ELEVATION: adjoined to lower building, No 4 Main Street. Top-hopper glazing. Broad, pebble-dashed gablehead stacks to N and S. Modern tiles. No skews.

Statement of Interest

No 2 Main Street was built sometime between 1794 and 1840; it is not shown on the "Plan... of New Luce" of 1794, but it is shown on the "Plan of the Village of New Luce" of 1840. The Main Street is called "New Clauchan" on the latter plan.
