Early to earlier 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay cottage. 2 bays added to N, 1840 - 1846, forming 5-bay (3-2) pair of cottages, with no 26 in 2 bays to right. Rendered. Base course.
E (MAIN STREET) ELEVATION: doors in bays to left and right of centre. Windows in remaining bays.
N ELEVATION: adjoined to higher building, no 24 Main Street.
S ELEVATION: window to right.
Plate glass glazing in sash and case windows. Painted rubble stacks, gablehead to S, ridge between 3rd and 4th bays. Coped skews to S.
Small grey slates, larger above 2 bays to right.
No 28 Main Street was built sometime between 1794 and 1840; the building is not shown on the "Plan... of New Luce" of 1794, but it is shown on the "Plan of the Village of New Luce" of 1840. No 26 Main Street was built sometime between 1840 and 1846; it is not shown on the "Plan of the Village of New Luce" of 1840, but is shown on the OS Map of 1846-47. The Main Street is called "New Clauchan" on the "Plan of the Village of New Luce" of 1840.
