Description

1818. Former United Presbyterian Church. 2-storey, symmetrical 3-bay principal elevation. Whinstone rubble with polished sandstone dressings. Raised margins to openings with long and short surrounds; long and short quoins; round-arched windows at 1st floor.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: broad pilastered segmental-arched doorway at centre; boarded foor; glass fanlight; window at 1st floor above. Single windows in bays to outer left and right.

S ELEVATION: 3 full-height round-arched windows.

Modern patterned glass sash and case windows to E. Corrugated sheet metal roof.

Statement of Interest

According to Small, the church was commenced in 1818, the same year as the first minister, Walter Hume of Jedburgh, was ordained. Now in use as a community hall.
