Description

Robert Weir Schultz, circa 1903. Vehicular bridge, on N-S axis. Single span. Rubble. Flat rubble coping with spaced semi-circular rubble stones. Parapets terminated by squat rubble drum piers, each with band courses and conical rubble caps, surmounted by small boulder

finials. Drystone rubble walls adjoined to each pier. Timber sluice machinery, including footbridge, to E.

Statement of Interest

The Bridge carries the road over a small burn leading from Mochrum Loch to the Electricity House and Sawmill which were built in 1903 (see separate listing). The sluice is marked as such on the OS Map of 1907. The form of the parapets echoes that of Schultz's walled garden at Old Place of Mochrum. See separate listings for Old Place of Mochrum:

Cartshed; Electricity House and Sawmill; Old Place of Mochrum, with Walled Garden and Sundial.
