Description

Late 19th century. Single storey and attic, 3-bay, T-plan cottage. Stugged ashlar with ashlar dressings. Panelled door to centre with letterbox fanlight and stone bracketted cornice. Canted windows flanking at ground. 2 canted, piend-roofed, slate-hung dormers to attic with billet moulding. Unfortunate modern glazing. Grey slates to raised roof. Ashlar coped skews, moulded skewputts, coped ashlar stacks with decorative cans. Low ashlar coped rubble wall to front garden with decorative, cast-iron railings and gate, rubble walls to sides, rubble coped.

Statement of Interest

Listed as a good example of a traditional type and for group value with Laurelbank to the W and Gowanlea to the E in South Street. 51 South Street is of the same type. It does not appear on the 1871-4 OS Map.
