Description

Original church rectangular 1780, north aisle addition
Simpson and David Simpson 1838 with Robert Hutchison
as inspector. Whin rubble with freestone dressings
2 round arched and keyblocked windows south flank, 2 smaller
east side, upper windows have arched heads. Lunettes in
gables, oblong 6-column bellcote with concave stone top
surmounted by pinnacle west gable. North aisle has large
gothick window on north gable and retains original glass.
Vestry at west end addect 1870-1 late porch at east end.
Interior: U-plan gallery, cast-iron columns in original
church, wood at aisle: coved ceiling with central roundel,
refurnished and again partly re-arranged, P MacGregor
Chalmers, 1912. Some memorial tablets early 19th century.
