Description

Circa 1780. 2-storey and attic, 5-bay tenement, forming part of terrace. Render (painted at ground to No 10), rubble to side. Painted base course to No 10; painted margins to window openings.

SW (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central corniced, pilastered and block-pedimented doorpiece; 3 paterae to frieze; central panel to block-pediment; painted letterbox fanlight. Lower timber glazed door to square-headed entrance to right; single window to outer right; later square window to left; single window to outer left. Regular fenestration at 1st floor. 2 canted dormers to outer left and right at attic.

Predominantly plate glass timber sash and case windows (modern glazing to left and right of entrances). Grey slate roof; coped stacks; circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

Forms part of terrace with Nos 16 and 18, and 20 and 22 Academy Street (see separate list descriptions). Unusual arrangement of corniced doorpiece to tenement, with plainer doorway to ground floor flat adjacent.
