Description

1865, later alterations. 2-storey and attic, 3-bay hotel, on corner site. Painted coursed rubble. Central band course; cornice; blocking course. Architraves and cill blocks to window openings.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central pilastered, corniced doorpiece; timber door; letterbox fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor. Regular fenestration to flanking bays.

W (QUEEN'S TERRACE) ELEVATION: 6-bay, grouped 3-1-2. Regular fenestration at ground and 1st floors to main 3-bay gable to left; 2 single windows at attic. Advanced single bay, 2-storey later extension to right, with broad timber eaves; tripartite round-arched window at ground floor; tripartite window at 1st floor; timber bracketed eaves. Pedimented entrance and single window to 2 bays to outer right; 2-leaf timber glazed door.

Predominantly 8-pane timber sash and case windows; 4-pane to attic to W elevation. Grey slate roof; rooflights; corniced stack; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

BOUNDARY WALL AND POSTBOX: painted coped rubble wall enclosing site; wall-mounted postbox to outer left of N elevation.
