Description

James I McDerment, 1862. 3-storey and attic, 7-bay tenement (grouped 2-2-3) with modern shopfronts at ground floor. Painted ashlar. Modillion shopfront cornice; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architrave surrounds to windows at 1st and 2nd floor; aprons to corniced 1st floor windows; square brackets to 3 windows to outer right at 2nd floor.

NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: modern shopfront at ground (entrance within Kyle Centre); regular fenestration at 1st and 2nd floors; 4 piended dormers at attic.

4-pane timber sash and case windows at 1st, 2nd and attic floors. Grey slate roof; stone skews; coped stacks; circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

Statement of Interest

Former Ayr Arms Hotel. Section to outer left at ground, forms part of shop to Nos 211-217 (see separate list description). Shop at ground forms part of Kyle Shopping Centre.
