John Kay, circa 1834, with later additions. 4-storey, 4-bay to New Bridge Street, 3-bay to South Harbour Street with single bowed corner bay, shops and tenement on corner site. Painted ashlar. Base course; deep eaves course and dentilled cornice to ground floor shopfronts; 2nd floor cill course; deep cill course (see Notes) at 3rd floor; eaves course; cornice; blocking course. Architrave surrounds and cornices to 1st floor windows, additional consoles to bowed bay; broad pilasters divide 3rd floor windows (except bowed bay).
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: recessed glazed timber door to centre of bowed bay, flanking side lights; flanking shop windows; regular fenestration to upper floors (tripartite windows). 2 central entrances at ground to 4-bay section, timber door to right with letterbox fanlight; glazed timber door to left; flanking shop windows. Regular fenestration to upper floors.
NE (SOUTH HARBOUR STREET): bowed bay to left (see above). 3 shopfront windows at ground floor. Regular fenestration to upper floors.
Shop windows at ground floor; predominantly 12-pane timber sash and case windows at 1st and 2nd floors; 9-pane at 3rd floor. Bowed grey slate roof; stone skews; broad gablehead stacks; circular cans.
INTERIOR: not seen 1998.
Prominent corner-site building overlooking New Bridge (see separate list description). Eaves course and cornice beneath 3rd floor windows suggests the 3rd floor may be a later addition.
