Description

Early 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay tenement with shops at ground floor. Painted, squared sandstone. Cornice to shopfronts; cornice. Painted margins to 1st floor windows.

NE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: recessed central entrance, glazed timber door; re-entrant angle entrance to shop to left, glazed timber door; central entrance to shop to right, glazed timber door; boarded timber storage entrance to outer left. Regular fenestration at 1st floor.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows at 1st floor. Grey slate roof; rooflight; stone skews; coped stacks; circular cans.

INTERIORS: not seen 1998.

The street was developed along the lines of a lane in the 19th century, to give access to a new Butter Market on its N side.
