Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey, 4-bay pair of houses forming end of terrace. Coursed sandstone; channelled to advanced sections. Base course; advanced pedimented outer bays.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central segmental-arched architraved doorpieces; timber doors; letterbox fanlights; 2 single architraved windows aligned above at 1st floor; regular tripartite fenestration at both floors to advanced outer bays; single windows to sides. Consoled brackets support continuos elaborate scroll-work iron balcony at 1st floor between advanced bays.

E AND N ELEVATIONS: not seen 1999.

W ELEVATION: obscured by adjoining terrace.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; stone skews; coped gablehead stacks; corniced square-plan cans. Cast-iron rainwater goods.

INTERIORS: not seen 1999.

GATEPIERS, GATES, RAILINGS AND BOUNDARY WALL: stone square-plan gatepiers to No 21, iron gatepiers to No 23; iron gates and railings; low coped boundary wall enclosing site.

Statement of Interest

End of terrace pair distinguished from the plainer Nos 3-19 (not listed) by its channelled stonework, consoled iron balconies, and segmentally-arched architraved doorpieces.
