Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay classical villa on corner site. Partly rendered ashlar to N elevation; harl to E elevation. Base course; 1st floor cill course; mutuled cornice; blocking course (to entrance elevation only). Labelmoulds to entrance elevation openings.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central square-headed entrance; recessed timber door; letterbox fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor; regular fenestration to flanking bays.

E (SIDE) ELEVATION: timber entrance door to outer left; letterbox fanlight; single window aligned above at 1st floor. Regular fenestration to 2 bays to right.

Modern glazing. Grey slate roof; coped stacks; circular and polygonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1998.

BOUNDARY WALL, GATEPIERS AND RAILINGS: low coped boundary wall to entrance elevation, pedestrian entrance to centre, vehicular entrance to outer right; rubble and iron gatepiers to E elevation pedestrian entrance; iron railings to coped wall to E elevation.

Statement of Interest

A good example of plain classical later 19th century architecture. A prominent stretch of Citadel walling (see separate list description, section in Arran Terrace) lies S of the property.
