Description

Later 18th century. Single storey rectangular gate lodge over raised basement, now store. Harled, ashlar margins and dressings. Blind Venetian window in each pedimented gable (E and W); worn coat of arms in each tympanum; doorway in centre of S elevation (roadside frontage). Corniced end stacks; slate roof.

Statement of Interest

A-Group with Duff House, Fife Gates, Walled Garden, Collie Lodge, Mausoleum, Ice House, Bridge Gates House and the Eagles Gate Lodge.

Lodge is survivor of a pair of Duff House lodges on axis of Bridge of Banff, illustrated by John Clerk in his print of Banff, 1825. Stands between main road and car park of supermarket, the basement area serving as trolly store.
