Description

W T Oldrieve, l906. Edwardian Renaissance; asymmetrical single storey, 5-bay former Post Office. Tooled and polished ashlar frontage and single bay return gable. Wide gabled outer bay containing pedimented tripartite window with granite Roman doric columns. Off centre entrance with inscribed bracketted and corniced plaque above; 3 square-headed keystoned windows at left with moulded jambs; plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. Corniced and blocked wallhead; shallow piended slate roof.

INTERIOR: (l994) interior gutted and altered as offices.

Statement of Interest

Constructed as Post Office; ceased functioning as such l993-4. Plaque above entrance inscribed POST OFFICE. Incised cartouche above tripartite window contains shield with ER (Edward VII) and crown.
