Description

Dated 1740. 3-storey, 3-bay house with symmetrical frontage. Harled, tooled ashlar margins. Centre corniced door with shouldered lintel with carved grotesque head and heavily quoined jambs. Longer 1st floor windows. 12-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Single end stack: slate roof; flat skews with run-off skewputts.

2-storey wings to rear.

INTERIOR: some original cornices and panelled doors.

Statement of Interest

Doorpiece cornice soffit inscribed:- TF 1740 ES. TF probably stands for Thomas Forbes, silversmith in Banff. B Group with Old St Mary's Burial Ground and Nos 1 and 5 High Shore.
