Dated 1764. 3-storey, symmetrical 3-bay house with 2-storey and attic, single bay return wing to Institution Road. Squared mixed rubble, painted ashlar margins and dressings; harled return gable and wing. Centre entrance with moulded lugged and corniced doorpiece, each spandrel with single carved rosette. Longer windows in lst floor, small in 2nd floor; single ground and later lst floor window in return gable. 4-pane glazing in ground, 2nd floor and return gable windows, 12-pane in lst floor, all timber sash and case windows.
Eaves cornice; margined end stacks; slate roof; sandstone ridge.
Flat skews with moulded and dated skewputt.
INTERIOR: narrow curved staircase; original moulded cornice in lst floor parlour (SE) with replacement section above gable window; original plain ashlar chimneypiece in lst room (NE).
19th century tooled margins on the lst floor gable parlour window and the replaced ceiling moulding suggest that either the window here was slapped in mid l9th century or replaced a former window. The 18th century lst floor bedroom chimneypiece, with curved lintel, is of a type common to the area.
