Description

C W Cosser, architect, Banff, dated 1902. Tall, austere 2-storey, 5-bay symmetrically fronted building. Dark whinstone rubble with contrasting tooled ashlar sandstone dressings and margins. Slightly advanced and corniced doorpiece with keystoned round-headed entrance, plaque and datestone. Square-headed windows with simple aprons linked between ground and lst floor by deep corniced bandcourse returning

across N gable.

2-pane glazing in timber sash and case windows. Deep, shallow wallhead cornice carrying decorative cast-iron brackets supporting moulded cast-iron rhone projecting as cornice. Original downpipes with embossed floral design to rainwater-heads. Long rear stair window; rear wallhead corniced stack; shallow piended slate roof.

Though dated 1902 the building was not completed until 1903.
