Description

Earlier 19th century. Two-storey, four-bay inn with flanking mid-20th century full-height circular pavilions with bell-cast roofs; gabled rear wing. Squared rubble with ashlar dressings. Gabled central porch; margined windows, small-paned sashes; end stacks; slated roofs.

Statement of Interest

The two circular pavilions were added at different stages during the 1950s along with the central porch (incorporating earlier stone door surround and coat of arms). This work was carried out by architectural practice Weddell and Thomson with walls rendered to give the appearance of coursed stone. Further reconfiguration work was carried out in the 1970s by the same practice, including conversion of central entrance to window.
