Description

Circa 1770 and later. Stable blocks. Rubble with ashlar

dressings. 2-storey east range taller in 3-bay centre set

slightly forward to east of wings with 3 keystoned elliptical

pends, 2 outer blind. Panelled piers between Band course

over ground floor, 6-pane sashes to 1st floor. Piended slate

roofs over outer bays, tower over centre. Lower 2 stages with

6-pane sashes and band courses; 3rd with blind quatrefoil and battlemented parapet; 4th stage later set back with oculus in

each face, corbelled and battlemented parapet and pyramidal

roof. Simpler west elevation set back to wings. Outer pends

open. 1st stage window in tower has dove holes. Long north

and south wings with 5-bay to west. Doors and 12-pane sashes

to ground floor, some altered, 6-pane sashes to 1st. Slate

roofs piended to north with brick stacks. South wing has

short return to west mainly tall single storey with outshot

to north with bipartite window. To south 2 12-pane sashes at

left with corniced doorpiece and gabletted dormer over

corresponding to 2-storey end bay off east range which has 1

4-pane sash at ground floor and 2 above. Slate roofs,

pyramidal over end bay of east range and with straight skew

to return wing.

Facing east range are 2 7-bay, single storey blocks with

dormerless attics. North range retains stall fittings. South

mainly cottages.
