Description

James Maitland Wardrop (Brown & Wardrop) 1867, replacing 1754
church. Early decorated style, SE tower with pyramid roof
truncated by timber belfry (intended spire not built),
porch at northern S. front, double transpets E. and W, N.
apsidal feature containing vestry etc and Bute family vault:
snecked rubble with freestone dressings, slated roofs.
Stained glass of 1867 by Ballantyne.

Ecclesiastical building in use as such.

Cumnock became a burgh of barony by Royal Charter in 1509 and

a police burgh (as Cumnock and Holmhead in 1866. in 1960)

Holmhead was dropped from the title.
