Statement of Interest

This building is an important remnant of Dalkeith's urban vernacular architecture, prominently sited on the main road into Dalkeith, and is complemented by its terraced neighbour, No 7 Edinburgh Road. It is sited on falling ground; the terrace line curves slightly, following the road line. No 7 Edinburgh Road is currently undergoing restoration (January 1992), and will be reconsidered for listing when work is completed.
