Statement of Interest

B-Group with 4 Lothian Street and 2-6 Newmills Road, former Co-operative Buildings. This building was originally the service wing of the adjacent Co-operative Buildings (see separate listing). Stores were situated on the upper floors and milk delivery carts sat under the corrugated-iron roof within the courtyard to the rear. The range to the E contained stables, a loosebox, van sheds and a paraffin house. Approximately 20 years ago (circa 1980) Monteith, the building contractors used the E range as their building yard and office until recently when they relocated. The E range is currently vacant (2001). A range of buildings in this location are depicted on the 1854 Edinburghshire map.
