Description

Earlier-mid 19th century. Road bridge, on E-W axis. Single span with broad semicircular arch. Ashlar. Battered piers advanced from abutments. Channelled bull-faced spandrels. Half saddleback course below parapet. Saddleback coping to parapet; modern repairs to NE. Pyramidal-capped pier to NW, adjoined to rubble boundary wall of Dalkeith Estate (see separte listing for High Street, Duke's Gate, Town Lodge and Estate Walls).

Statement of Interest

New Cow Bridge carries Musselburgh Road (A6094) over River South Esk. This bridge was built sometime bertween 1835 and 1852.
