Description

Style of George Mathewson, circa 1835. 4-storey, 4-bay, commercial building with shopfronts to ground floor. Sandstone ashlar, rubble to rear, grey slate roof. Pilastered ground floor with cornice and pediment with crude acroteria detail, wallhead course, corniced blocking course; large windows to ground floor with timber cross astragals; 2-pane timber sash and case windows to upper floors, architraved to 1st floor, margined to 2nd and 3rd.

FRONT ELEVATION: 3 doors and windows to ground floor, 4 windows to upper floors; window to centre left altered to doorway.

INTERIOR: not seen.

Statement of Interest

This building was probably originally intended for domestic use; it was incorporated into the adjoining Morton's Bond (also listed) circa 1960.
