Description

Style of James MacLaren, circa 1865. Italianate detailed
villa, 2-storey, ashlar-built with painted dressings and
quoins.
S elevation: 3-bay, centre ground floor bay shallow advanced,
with triple arched keystoned window and cornice. Canted
bays with lead roofs and bracketted eaves flanking. 1st floor
shallow segmental-headed keystoned bipartites, bracketted
cast-iron railed plant-box to centre window.
E elevation: basket-arched porch supported by square pier,
triple-light segmental arched window to right, parapet
over. Ground floor consoled and corniced window to left of
door. 3 1st floor segmental arched windows. Modern outside
stair added to rear.
Bracketted eaves, piended and platformed slate roof.
Wallhead stacks to side elevations. Sash and case windows,
2-pane glazing pattern.
LODGE: 2-storey, L-plan, snecked rubble, ashlar dressings and
quoins. Keystoned segmental arched windows and porch door,
in re-entrant angle. Eaves band. Piended slate roof. later
rendered extension to N. sash and case windows, 8-pane
glazing pattern.
3 square, capped gatepiers. Low boundary wall to Perth
Road, higher walls to sides and rear.
