George Mathewson, dated 1841. Single Storey, rectangular-plan, former school. Coursed rubble sandstone, grey slate roof. Windows originally bipartite sash and case with diamond glazing pattern, now mostly replaced with modern top-hopper; chamfered reveals. Deep eaves with exposed rafter and purlin ends, piended roof at S end, 2 coped stacks.
MAIN ELEVATION: slightly advanced off-centre gable with chamfered doorcase and round-headed windows flanking, linked hoodmoulds with datestone over door, round-headed window with original glazing pattern above; bay at left with bipartite window and original glazing pattern, blocked window at left return gable; bay at right with 3 windows.
REAR ELEVATION: door with glazed lean-to porch at right, windows flanking, 3 windows at far left.
Lammerton School was built by Thomas Erskine of linlathen, mainly for the benefit of estate children; the school closed in 1893. Erskine also established schools in Brook Street, Broughty Ferry (now YMCA, listed separately), and Brook Street, Monifieth (now Catholic Church).
