Baird and Thomson of Glasgow, 1902 for Clydesdale Bank. 3-storey and attic; 4-bay; terraced commercial building. Symmetrical free Renaissance design with pedimented 1st floor windows and dormers. Polished sandstone ashlar principal (S) elevation. Base course; band courses joining window cills at each level; band courses adjoining lintels and forming friezes to ground and 2nd floors; that to 2nd floor with roundel panels above windows. Moulded cornice above ground floor; modillioned eaves cornice. Architraved windows to each floor; those to ground floor with Gibbs surrounds; those to 1st floor aediculed with pediments on consoled brackets; pedimented dormers.
S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: aediculed entrance to outer right; Corinthian pilasters and pediment on consoled brackets with acanthus motifs; moulded reveals; 16-panel 2-leaf timber door with rectangular fanlight. Regular fenestration; window to each bay to left and to each bay to upper storeys.
Mainly 2-panel timber sash and case windows; multi-pane dormers. Grey slate roof. Coursed sandstone gablehead stack with moulded coping to either side; round and octagonal cans.
INTERIOR: not inspected (1998).
