Description

Probably Robert Burn. Terrace, No 41 built by 1819,
remainder probably built in 1820s. Nos 45 and 47 deeper
on plan at rear. 2 storeys with attics and railed
basements. All droved ashlar, painted (except No 41),
with pilastered doorpieces, round-arched doorways,
recessed panelled doors with decorative fanlights.
Houses each 3 bays with door left except No 47 (5 bays,
with central door). Sash windows, mostly with 12-pane
glazing pattern. Band courses between floors; string at
ground floor cill level; cornice; blocking course;
straight skews; 3 canted dormers; end stacks; slate
roof. Pedimented N gable with full-length good cast-iron
balcony at ground, supported on decorative stanchions
and with circular stair to garden; rank of 9 diamond
flues above. Rear elevation of No 47 with acid-etched
round-headed stair window, 2-bay wall-head gable. Some
good interior work, including cornice plasterwork,
woodwork, chimney pieces and cantilevered stairs. Walled
gardens to rear and to N.
