Description

Circa 1870. Late classical corner office buiulding, part
with French pavilion roof. 2 storeys with railed
basement; single bay quadrant corner with 1st floor
balcony, 4 bays to Buccleuch Street (paired windows at
ground with balcony over). Polished red ashlar with
shaped architraves, pilaster strips at angles (channelled
at ground), band courses/strings between floors.
Windows plate glass sashes. Elevation to Charlotte
Street also 4 bays, left 2 advanced, the outer bay
3-storey, adjoining bay has iron-crested pavilion roof
with square angle chimney shafts and dormer with
circular light; porch in re-entrant angle. Cornice;
blocking course; corniced stacks; piended slate roof.
