Description

Mid 19th century. Barge-boarded picturesque large
asymmetrical villa. Single storey with attics, 2nd storey
squeezed in at N below eaves and with turreted
rectangular bay a storey higher with grouped flues and
with finialed pavilion roof. Stugged red coursers with
polished dressings and chamfered margins. S (entrance)
elevation 3 bays with gabled shallow inner porch
(panelled door with fanlight and hood-mould), gable to
left with main roof carried over full-height projecting
bay (latter canted at ground); right bay with dormer.
Long W elevation has off-centre gable, projecting ground
floor bipartite to right and dormers. Sash windows mainly
with 4-pane glazing pattern. Projecting eaves;
elaborately carved barge boards; stacks with grouped flues;
fish-scale slated roofs. Interior: some alterations; now
divided into 2 flats, school at ground level, radio
studios above; staircase removed at ground; some cornice
plasterwork; panelled doors in architraves.
