Description

Iron fountain cast by Smith's Foundry, Glasgow, standing
within circular red ashlar basin. Erected 1882 under
supervision of - Crombie. 3 tiered circular conch-edged
basins diminishing in size, underside decorated with flowers
and leaves; 4 cherubs with fishes flank base of lowest
basin; dolphin supporters and Corinthianesque capital
above 2nd basin; stork supporters to small bowl under jet.

Statement of Interest

Replaces previous memorial erected 1850 to mark opening of

first gravitation water supply introduced by Bailie Crombie
