Description

Perhaps 1810, built as charter house for burgh of Maxwelltown.
Single storey 3-bay villa-type house with attic and basement.
Painted ashlar. Steps oversailing basement to central recessed
door with fanlight; plate glass sash windows in outer bays;
moulded eaves; 2 piended canted dormers; straight skews;
corniced end stacks; slate roof.
Set behind low, painted ashlar wall with iron fence; square
terminal piers, that to left rusticated, that to right rebuilt.

Statement of Interest

Maxwelltown became a free burgh of barony in 1810.
