Description

1842. Plain, cylindrical column on broad plinth, domed cap; inscribed, IN 1842 HER MAJESTY'S COMMISSIONERS GAVE A LEASE OF THIS GRASS YARD OF DUNBLANE AS A BLEACHING GREEN FOR THE INHABITANTS.

Statement of Interest

The Old Bleaching Green is now a public park but was used for drying and bleaching clothes until the 1930s. Several cast-iron washing line poles also stand about the park.
