Later/late 18th century. 2-storey, 2-bay, house (built into terrace). Irregular principal (N) elevation with chamfered architraves to all openings. Harled with painted stone dressings.
N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: entrance with replacement timber door to left; 2 windows to right. Window at 1st floor in each bay.
S ELEVATION: entrance with replacement timber door to right. Window above and one to each floor to left bay.
12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof. Coped gablehead stack to W side; round cans.
INTERIOR: not inspected (2001).
A relatively intact later/late 18th century house (the openings appear to be original) occupying a prominent position opposite the cathedral. The asymmetrical arrangement of the ground floor of the principal (N) elevation indicates that it may have originally been a small tenement block/with a shop/workshop at ground floor level. Its plan is deeper than the adjoining houses to the W (now forming part of the Cathedral Museum) and it was probably built slightly later (they are dated 1765). On the First Edition OS map it is shown with a pathway round its rear garden. It was previously occupied by the Friends of Dunblane Cathedral and appears to have been owned by the Cathedral for a number of years.
