Description

Early 19th century; extended probably late 20th century. 2-storey; 4-bay semi-detached house. Symmetrical principal (S) elevation to original 3-bay block; E bay added probably late 20th century. Principal elevation rendered to imitate ashlar with painted stone dressings; E elevation harled. Architraved openings to principal elevation; quoin strips (to original block and addition).

S (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: original 3-bay house to left; central entrance (replacement part-glazed door); flanking windows and 1 above. Window to each floor in later bay to outer right.

E ELEVATION: gable end of addition extends to right (past line of original block). Window to right to each floor.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof. Harled coped ridge stack to E and W of original block; round cans.

INTERIOR: not inspected (2001).

Statement of Interest

The original block has a pleasant symmetrical principal elevation. It forms one of a group of early buildings at the start of the old main road to Sheriffmuir. A building is shown here on a map of Dunblane in 1817.
