Description

Early 19th century, with later alterations. 2-storey 3-bay house

(adjoined to rear of No 11). Cream sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings.

S ELEVATION: 4-bay. Left bay with windows to both floors. 3 right bays symmetrical. Projecting piend-roofed centre bay; Tuscan Doric pilastered doorpiece with dentilled cornice; modern panelled door and decorative multi-pane fanlight; window at 1st floor; moulded eaves. Flanking bays with Venetian windows at ground. At 1st floor, window to left bay; right bay with bipartite window displaced to right.

N ELEVATION: 5 irregular bays. Irregular harled lean-to porch at centre with door on return; further door to left. To left, single storey link to piend-roofed former stable and hay-loft.

STABLE AND HAYLOFT: rubble. To N, boarded door flanked by small windows at ground, hayloft window hard under eaves to left. Piended roof with various cast-iron skylights, and ventilator strip to S.

Timber sash and case windows; 12-pane to S, plate glass to N. Grey slates; brick apex stacks; ashlar coped skews.

GATEPIERS: pair of corniced ashlar gatepiers to Currie Street.
