Description

Circa 1810, with early 20th century bar front. 3-storey 5-bay corner tenement with projecting bar at ground. Principal elevations of coursed cream sandstone with cill courses to upper floors; polished ashlar at ground and to South Fort Street; rubble to secondary elevations. Regular fenestration.

E (SOUTH FORT STREET) ELEVATION: 5-bay; cornice at eaves; inner left bay blind, with shouldered wallhead stack. Flat-roofed bar at ground with narrow panelled pilasters supporting entablature; upper section glazed; base course.

N (TRAFALGAR LANE) ELEVATION: 4-bay; gable to 3 left bays with apex stack; 2 left bays blind. At ground, return bay of bar to left, facade continuing over 2 left bays with deep set door and window; to right,

2 doors with rectangular plate glass fanlights (left one deep set) and large window.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: very irregular; blank gable to left with broad apex stack.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: blank gable to right with broad apex stack.

12-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slates; ashlar coped skews; coped rubble stacks (one rendered).

INTERIOR: bar with dentilled cornices and gantry bar.

Formerly adjoined by buildings to W (Trafalgar Lane); recently restored.
