Description

Earlier 19th century. Pair of 3-bay, 2-storey, attic and basement semi-detached houses. Cream sandstone, coursed and squared rubble to basement, droved ashlar with tooled dressings above, squared and snecked rubble to rear and sides.

SE (FRONT) ELEVATION: elevations mirrored about centre with pilastered and corniced doorways accessed by steps to centre bays; single windows above and to remaining bays. 2 rectangular tripartite slate-hung dormers with half-piended roofs to each house.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 3-storey; 2 secondary doorways; irregular windows.

NE ELEVATION: gabled with apex stack; single windows.

SW ELEVATION: as above; iron balcony brackets to right window.

Timber sash and case windows with plate glass glazing, small pane windows to dormers, some modern replacement windows. Slate roof with metal flashings.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.

Statement of Interest

The building is currently undergoing refurbishment, a continuous cast-iron balcony to No 46 has been temporarily removed but will be reinstated.
