Description

Late 19th century. 4-storey corner tenement with shops at ground and Baronial details. Cream sandstone, stugged ashlar with polished dressings to front and side elevation, squared and snecked rubble to rear. Bold roll-moulded reveals to shopfront openings, roll-moulded reveals to ground floor and corner bay windows; cill courses to 1st, 2nd and 3rd floors; chamfered reveals; 3rd floor windows breaking eaves in finialled, moulded dormerheads.

SE (LEITH WALK) ELEVATION: 5-bay including rounded corner bay. Architraved common stair doorway to centre; large segmental-arched shopfront opening to right; single window to left. Above tall wallhead stack corbelled at 2nd floor to centre bay; single windows to remaining bays. Corner bay to outer left with round-arched doorway to chamfered corner (2-leaf panelled doors) flanked by round-arched display windows to bays to either side, 3-storey engaged round corner tower corbelled above with transomed bipartite windows and conical finialled fishscale roof.

SW (ARTHUR STREET) ELEVATION: crowstepped gable with broad apex stack; round-arched display window (see above); single windows to centre.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: 5-bay; single windows to outer bays, broad wallhead stack to centre bay.

Timber sash and case windows, mostly plate glass glazing, some 4- and 12-pane, some replacement windows. Slate roof with metal flashings;

2 wallhead stacks, apex stack (see above), mutual stack. Corbelled skewputts. Moulded eaves gutter.

INTERIOR: not seen 1993.
