Description

Hugh Baird, Engineer, circa 1820. Stugged coursed sandstone with ashlar dressings. Segmental arch with dressed voussoirs and advanced keystone with '18' inscribed. Wallhead coping bearing alternating straight and twisted wrought-iron railings. Octagonal terminal piers.

Statement of Interest

The Edinburgh and Glasgow Union canal was designed by Hugh Baird and was built 1818-1822.
