Description

James Proudfoot, 1884. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan villa. Squared and coursed sandstone; lightly stugged ashlar with polished dressings to S (entrance) elevation. Base and dividing band course; cornice; long and short raised quoins; basket-arched windows; roll-moulded arrises to window surrounds.

S (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central architraved segmental-arched doorpiece comprising pilasters, keystone, carved spandrels, moulded consoles, cornice, blinded balustrade; deep-set tripartite doorway with panelled door; plate glass fanlight. Full-height advanced tripartite window to outer right with dividing cornice. Rull-height canted window to outer left with dividing cornice.

E ELEVATION: flat-roofed garage attached at ground floor; 2 single windo ws at 1st floor.

W ELEVATION: full-height canted window with dividing cornice to outer left; single storey corniced canted bay to outer right. Conservatory attached to rear.

Plate glass sash and case windows. Grey slate piended roof; lead flashing; 3 sdhouldered and corniced stacks; moulded octagonal cans; moulded eaves guttering; iron finials.

INTERIOR: not seen 1990.

Low coped boundary wall to street, rising to W.
